The vast majority of developers are releasing code significantly faster than they did in 2021, creating the need for new tools to be able to stay ahead of the curve. Companies are working on integrating CI/CD into their development process to help get code out quicker. CI/CD stands for continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment. CI/CD is a method of automating much or all of manual human intervention that would otherwise be needed to get new code from feedback into production. Today, 24% of DevOps, or getting code released and getting feedback received, are fully automated, up from 19% in 2021 and only 8% in 2020.
Many have seen the value of having an automated CI/CD pipeline but some, especially mobile app devs, have yet to realize its true potential. An automated CI/CD system for mobile devs is needed now more than ever as the rise in demand for mobile apps has never been higher. The 7.33 billion mobile users around the world and 255 billion mobile apps downloaded have caused demand for more developers and faster code to skyrocket. Half of devs say that they are releasing code twice to even three times as fast as they did in 2021. Mobile devs who have incorporated CI/CD into their workflow are able to catch bugs sooner, sometimes even before an app reaches production.
