Bully breeds are one of the most beloved dog breeds in the United States. They are descendants of the offspring of bulldogs and British terriers , which were both first registered in the late 1800s. Different bully breeds have now spread all over the globe, with new registrations with the American Kennel Club (AKC) appearing in recent years. For example, the Dogue de Bordeaux was registered in France in 2008, the Cane Corso breed was registered in Italy in 2010, and the Dogo Argentino was registered in Cordoba in 2020.

Many of these new additions of dog breeds are becoming very popular with dog owners. Bully breeds and pit bulls, which are mixed breed dogs with a significant mix of other bully breeds, are now the most popular breed in 21 states, including Utah, New York, and Georgia. They make up 20% of all dogs within the United States, which is a staggering 18 million dogs across all 50 states. The French Bulldog reigns at the top of this list, with the most number of registrations in 2022, according to the AKC. They finally beat out the Labrador Retriever, which reigned at the top for 31 years. Having such dog companionship may even help your business growth.

Bully breeds are beloved for their easy-going temperament and their adorable looks. According to the ATTS Temperament Test, several bully breeds score incredibly high. The American Bully has a 100% score, followed by the bull terrier with 90.9%, and the Cane Corso with 88.7%. It’s no wonder why some of these dogs are among the most beloved dog breeds in the nation.
