Florida has become one of the most popular places for people to move to in the U.S. Within a ten-year span, Florida experienced a population growth of more than 3 million. As a result, major metropolitan areas such as Tampa, Miami, and Orlando all rose more than 70% in value since the start of the pandemic. Even some of Florida’s smallest cities have seen great growth. This includes Freeport, Palm Springs, and Groveland.

Many people are making the move to Florida with the biggest reason being change. Changes with work due to the rise of remote work and the growing availability of work is one reason. Another is the changes with housing as new building applications reach more than 130,000 in Florida as the average home value becomes more affordable (at $392,000 in Florida). The state is also more accessible to first-time homeowners compared to other top states.

The last reason involves changes with the quality of life. Florida’s weather makes it a comfortable place to live year round with the average low being 57 degrees Fahrenheit in the beginning of the year and the average high being 83 degrees Fahrenheit near the height of summer. The daily temperature is usually around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. The Sunshine State does not have state income tax and has a fairly low cost of living compared to other popular states.

It’s best to know what you desire from your move and if you can afford it before making the move. That is why you should get to know Florida’s best neighborhoods by connecting with residents. Checking various mortgage loan options and interest rates will allow you to make the right decision for your needs. Closing cost options are also great to know. With enough knowledge, you can have a smooth home-buying experience in Florida.
